I didn't see one of these anywhere, so I thought I'd create one myself. This is a topic for new members/Yakuza fans to introduce themselves. A good OP always goes first so here it goes : My name is Cameron, I've only just found out about the Yakuza series 2 years ago thanks to a friend of mine. Currently my favorite installment in the series is Yakuza 4 and my favorite character from said game (aside from Kiryu of course) is Shun Akiyama.

I have a lot of aliases, but most prominent is Hyro. I was recommended the series many times and gained some interest when I saw the trailer for Yakuza 3. Played the demo and found out it wasn't just a Japanese version of GTA (a series I don't care for), and immediately became one of my favorite series. As of now, I have the whole English released series complete though I have not played them all. Currently, I'm going through all the games and beating them without leveling up (I did this on the first playthrough of Yakuza 3 but my old PS3 with that save died). Right now, at the end of Yakuza 2 on Normal and afterwards, I'll do Yakuza 1 (I didn't do this first cause I don't know where I placed my disc and in the process of moving), followed by replaying through Yakuza 3. Afterwards, I can finally move onto Yakuza 4 and Dead Souls.

I'm Riku Rose. Got into the series after I kept hearing it was the spiritual sequal to Shenmue. I got the first Yakuza game on the day of release but didn't play it for awhile as I also got Dead Rising with it. Once I did play it I got hooked and ever since have got every game on release date. It's not quite my favrouite series but is up there with Final Fantasy and Zelda.
Also I'm 19 soon to be 20 and live in England.

I'm ShortyBoo. I have been playing the Yakuza games for a few years now. I actually hadn't heard about the series until 3 was announced and at that point I looked into the first two games, found I couldn't buy them new at that point, so instead bought them used. I only played the first game once (the bad English voice acting ruined it for me, though I did like Majima's voice) but I played 2 at least four times before playing 3. I was definitely against the cuts in 3, so I didn't pick it up until I could get it used, but I did pre-order 4 once it was confirmed there were no cuts and Dead Souls and picked both up on day one.

Got into the series after I kept hearing it was the spiritual sequal to Shenmue. Same reason I got into it. I actually remember reading about Yakuza on PS2 in GamesMaster magazine. The article mentioned the game being made by Yu Suzuki as a more violent Shenmue game. Never picked it up though as it was around the time my fanboy tendencies made me commit to Xbox and this new online multiplayer thing called Xbox Live. Anyone heard of that?

I never had a chance to play the Shenmue games, but I keep hearing about them. We had a Dreamcast for like a month before it was stolen, so we never bothered to buy another one or track down any games. At the time, we only had Soul Calibur. I heard there was a Shenmue collection coming out for the PS3, though. Is there any truth to that, or is it just a rumor?

It's being hinted at by people in high places at Sega. Hope for the best!

Hello, my name's Bob and I'm a builder. I've been an alcha...alchi... heavy drinker for a few years now.
I like Yakuza a lot. I was stolen by Riku from the Shenmue Dojo. He told me if I didn't join he'd stick his fingers in me.

Thanks for the tip, Riku, I'll try to keep visiting.
I've been in love with Yakuza ever since the first one, which I eagerly anticipated. Waiting for the first 2 to come out in the West was exhasperating at times but thankfully those times have smoothed over. I also did not mind at all the english voice acting, although, from 3 onwards especially, the exploration of the japanese setting has been mindblowing, even from a technical and artistical standpoint. It's probably my favourite video game series alongside Shenmue.

I'm OL (yeah, it's supposed to be capitalized... not sure what happened there). Been playing the series right from the start. Day 1, if I'm not mistaken. I was already a fan of various yakuza movies, so the announcement of a game FINALLY being based in and around that general culture made me immediately perk up. And yeah, I was also into Shenmue beforehand, so the similarities in execution were an important element of the hype for me. I even still have the demo disc for Y1 that came with an issue of the Official Playstation Magazine, with the dialogue still in Japanese and everything. So yeah, it's one of my favorite videogame series, and I do play a TON of videogames.
